The Battle of the Worldviews: Part 2

In part 1 of this article, I
discussed the creationist/Christian worldview and contrasted that against the
naturalist/evolution worldview that is dominating our culture more and more.
I stated that I believe the propagation of the naturalistic worldview is the
greatest contributor to our culture rejecting biblical truth, and therefore the
message of Jesus as savior. I noted that much of the church seems to be asleep
concerning the critical nature of the creation/evolution issue and is even
compromising and accepting naturalistic teachings that undermine the
creationist/Christian worldview. Now I would like to show that the
naturalists are not asleep and are even planning an increased effort to promote
evolution as fact to our culture.
The world’s largest scientific
society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS),
recently met in St. Louis for their annual meeting. Their meetings included a
number of special sessions focused on the creation/evolution issue and how to
defeat the creationists. Dr. Menton, a respected scientist and speaker for
Answers in Genesis attended these special sessions and stated the following:
“What I heard and saw is of great importance to all who are concerned about
biblical Christianity and the future of education in America.” He summed up
their strategies presented in these creation/evolution sessions as follows:
1. They
must enlist the “clergy” or “people of faith” to help promote evolution.
2. Evolutionists
must strive to convince Americans that our competitiveness in the world will be
at risk if evolution is not taught.
3. They
must introduce evolution earlier – as early as the first grade!
4. Evolutionist
will use “bait-and-switch” tactics with redefinition of terms. When dealing
with the public, evolutionists must make sure they use terms like “science” or
scientist” instead of “evolution” or “evolutionist.”
5. Evolutionists
must recruit lawyers to work hard to ensure that public schools are “God-free
zones.”
Now that we have seen what the
evolutionists are planning, the real question is how will the church respond?
Will it actually become a propagator of evolution and promote the naturalistic
worldview that is undermining the creationist/Christian worldview (much like
what happened in England)? Or will it stand up and affirm the supernatural
creation of the universe as stated in Scripture and the judgment of the world
by the Genesis flood (laying down most of the fossil record over a one year
period and not over millions of years)? May God move us to stand on His Word!

Him.” Proverbs 30:5
