Do you know if you will go to Heaven when you die?

Consider another important question - Suppose you were standing before your Creator God, and He were to ask you 'Why should I let you into My Heaven?' - What would you say?

The Bible, God's Word, teaches that there is only one narrow way to be with God - and that is through His Son, Jesus.  Jesus taught us to "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it" (Matt 7:13). And Jesus clearly says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).

The Bible gives very clear guidelines to how we must be saved.

     A) We must admit that we are sinners (because we have broken God's law) and repent of our sins.

The Bible states in the book of Romans,

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom 3:23).

And Jesus declares,

“I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3).

Our sin has separated us from God.  We must be willing in our hearts to come to Jesus and admit that we are sinners and agree to turn away from our sin.

     B) We must know who Jesus is and believe in Him.

As the disciple, Paul, testified concerning Jesus in 1 Corinthians 15:3&4,

“For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”

And as the well known Biblical Passage, John 3:16, states,

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

And Jesus says of Himself in John 11:25&26, “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.  And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?’”

We must believe in our hearts that Jesus is God’s only begotten Son, that He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, that He was buried, and that He rose again that we may have life.

     C) We must surrender our lives to Jesus.

Jesus says in the book of Luke:

“Then He said to them all, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me’” (Luke 9:23).

“So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple” (Luke 14:33).

We must be willing in our hearts to give up everything to follow Jesus.

How are we able to do these things: repent of our sins, believe in Jesus, and surrender to Him as Lord? Only by faith!  The Bible says - “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8&9).  Salvation is not something we work for, it is something God gives us according to His Grace.  We only need to respond to His gift by faith.  Salvation is a great mystery, yet it is God the Father who enables us to respond in faith to God the Son, Jesus Christ.  As Jesus says, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:44).

Questions:

How about you, do you believe God is drawing you to Himself?  Do you sense your sins have separated you from God and you need to repent of your sins?

If yes, do you believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins, that He was buried, and that he rose from the grave?

If yes, do you want to surrender your life to Jesus right now?

The Bible states in Romans 10:9&10, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”

If you truly want to be saved from your sins, then place your faith in Jesus to save you right now.

By faith, call on God and confess that you repent of you sins, that you believe Jesus died on the cross for your sins and rose again, and that you surrender your life to Jesus as Lord. And as a step of faith, tell others about Jesus and find a Bible believing Church and be baptized “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).
